As a freelance Cheltenham based conductor, composer, accompanist, organist, examiner, adjudicator and composer, Ian has performed as a Choral and Orchestra conductor and as an organist in many concert halls, Cathedrals and Churches around the UK, and Europe. COMPOSER As a composer, Ian has a large volume of music published both in the UK and the US. some of his vocal compositions are set pieces for various examination boards and competitive festivals and his choral and vocal music is often performed worldwide. Ian is also often commissioned to compose a specific work for organisations or individuals. ORGANISTIan gives organ recitals in concert halls, cathedrals and churches around the country. For some years, Ian worked as Organist and Assistant Director of Music for the Cathedral Singers at Christ Church, Oxford. Ian is now Organist, Composer in Residence and tutor in organ and piano at St Edward's School, Cheltenham, in addition to his role at the University of Gloucestershire. Organ Recitals have included: Bangor Cathedral, Liverpool St David's Cathedral, Cathedral, Tewkesbury Abbey, Westminster Cathedral, Ian is also sometimes available to play the organ at occasional Church Services, accompanying choirs, plus playing at occasional Weddings & funerals etc. Accompanist Ian is also in demand as an accompanist on both organ and piano in the Gloucestershire area. He is equally at home accompanying vocal or instrumental soloists for recitals, examinations or competitive music festivals etc. |
CONDUCTOR & EDUCATORIan is in demand as both an orchestral and choral conductor in both the Gloucestershire area and beyond. He has a wealth of experience, knowledge and repertoire of choral and orchestral works that have been performed to a high standard under his leadership. In addition to his University role, Ian also conducts Jubilate Chamber Choir, Cheltenham Choral Society, The English Concertante Orchestra, Cotswold Camerata, and Cirencester Philharmonia. Working in Education - Private music teacher. Ian has been involved in teaching music for over thirty years and is heavily involved in the musical education in the Gloucestershire where he works as a conductor, music teacher, an examiner & adjudicator, in addition to teaching privately to a wide age range, from beginner to advanced, in the following disciplines: Vocal Coaching (Classical, Musical Theatre & Popular Vocals), Organ, Piano, Composition, Conducting, Music Theory & Aural skills training. |
